Le saviez-vous? La Nouvelle-Ecosse, le Nouveau-Brunswick et le Québec au Canada, c’est vraiment le paradis du homard!! Enfin, pour ceux qui aiment en manger! On s’est bien compris n’est-ce-pas? C’est le produit de la mer que le Canada exporte le plus en valeur. En raréfaction dans les eaux européennes à cause de la surpêche, le homard prolifère au contraire en Amérique du Nord, où les mesures de conservation et l’équilibre des écosystèmes ont permis son maintien. Au McDonald’s l’été à Halifax, on peut même commander un McLobster (lobster=homard en anglais)!


Du homard sous toutes les formes et à tous les repas...

Alors forcément, lors de notre traversée de l’Est canadien, on en a bien profité! Oeufs brouillés au homard pour le petit-déjeuner (en bas à droite photo ci-dessus), homard entier pour le déjeuner, gratin de homard (en haut à droite) au dîner… ou alors en version feuilleté de homard (en bas à gauche)…

A Montréal, sur le Vieux-Port (au niveau de la rue McGill), on trouve même une « baraque à homard », la Muvbox, où on peut acheter des sandwichs ou des pizzas au homard! A emporter dans une lunch box, ou à manger sur place sur les tables au soleil (si la météo est au rendez-vous)! L’éventail gastronomique est presque inépuisable!!


Du homard en peluche au homard porte-bouteille...

Tout comme les déclinaisons mercantiles de l’orangé crustacé… De l’homard porte-bouteille de vin au tout mignon homard en peluche, les boutiques fourmillent de trouvailles kitches et rigolotes… Pour finir en apothéose à Shediac, sympathique port de villégiature autoproclamé la capitale mondiale du homard! C’est là qu’on y trouve la plus grosse sculpture de homard du monde: 5 mètres de haut pour 11 mètres de long!! Ca vallait bien la photo souvenir! Il y a même chaque année au mois de juillet un festival du Homard! Bon, sur ce je vous laisse, ça m’a donné faim tout ça!! Je profite d’être encore au Canada pour me régaler!!
