L’économie malgache en 2012 reste tributaire de la crise que le pays a connue depuis 2009 avec tous ses effets négatifs entre autres l’aggravation de la pauvreté, la détérioration des infrastructures faute de financement extérieur, et la dégradation des indicateurs sociaux. Par ailleurs, les chocs extérieurs notamment le ralentissement de l’économie mondiale engendrée par les crises successives ayant frappé les pays développés en particulier ceux de la zone euro et la fréquence des catastrophes naturelles sont deux facteurs ayant fragilisé l’économie de Madagascar et rendant difficile la reprise d’une croissance économique forte et soutenue.
