This is a good plan that I could not fail to highlight! Canadian trains, Via Rail offers musicians the opportunity to travel on board free of charge, in Exchange for a concert on board for passengers! Amazing no? I who have the habit of exchanging smiles against free tickets (see the free tickets world tour), I found it awesome! Our crossing of Eastern Canada, we have done by train. Three steps in total: Halifax-Moncton (300km), Moncton-Montreal (800km) and Montréal-Toronto (500km). In a country as large as the Canada, the most used transport means is obviously the aircraft. Suddenly, the train is positioned on the segment of charm of 'slow travel '. We can make the entire crossing of the country with the Canadian, who endorse Vancouver Toronto in 4 days/4 nights. A next trip idea that I would enjoy a lot! It would be the opportunity to compare with the Trans-Siberian...cabin for two which turns into bunk at night, with toilet and shower en suiteBut to return to the Canada, the "bonus" of travel, it is at the rear of the train found with the dome car! The last car, it is the venue for passengers who want to further enjoy the ride. Upstairs, there is a panoramic space to better admire the landscapes traversed. And below, a friendly area with coffee and tea at will, tasting of local wines, music live! This is where the musicians who enjoy a free ticket (valid for two people, and in a first class cabin!) to give a concert. Blow of heart for Morgan MacDonald, which we enjoyed music... He was travelling aboard the Halifax-Montreal with his girlfriend to announce their engagement to her parents... ;-) Before starting this summer tour of the music festivals of Canada thanks these train tickets available! A super Via Rail initiative plans to extend also to other artists or people able to offer a distraction or a teaching on the trains... The railway company thus benefit from the program to two knitting freaks who gave courses in knitting during the trip! Good on the other hand, in order to benefit from the 'Artists' program on board, should be Canadian nationality. Applications and information here. Good trip!! And good concert!Concert aboard the dome car... Morgan MacDonald on guitar...And here on video a very nice summary of this trip by train blog in the Canada. Congratulations to Alex Strohl for images and editing!
