La croissance américaine s'est pour sa part stabilisée sur un rythme modéré (autour de 2% l'an). Malgré son rebond au 3° trimestre 2012, la croissance économique américaine reste fragile. Elle a freiné au 4° trimestre 2012. La progression du PIB en volume qui était ressortie à 3,1% l’an au 3° trimestre a laissé place à une très légère érosion (- 0,2 % l’an). Cette contraction des activités s’explique par une forte chute des dépenses publiques suite à un gonflement des dépenses militaires, une accumulation des stocks par les entreprises ayant modéré leurs activités et une chute conséquente des exportations. Toutefois, l’accélération des dépenses des ménages et le redémarrage de l’investissement productif laissent espérer un rebond. Le désendettement des ménages américains se poursuit et la valeur de leur patrimoine augmente, notamment grâce à la bonne tenue des marchés financiers.
