Delphine Coulin novel tells the conditions of immigrants, who arrived in France illegally and who hope to build a better life. But unfortunately the daily lives of these people is connected permanently to a fear. They are confronted on a daily basis, fear of being arrested, often exploited job search and disillusionment. The protagonist of this novel is called Samba Cisse, a Malian young of 28 years. He arrived in France when he was 18 and 10 years he saw odd jobs in France. Samba has left his country to find in France what to do live his family, his mother and sister remained in Africa and have a better future. It is hosted by his uncle Lamouna, who fled her village many years previously (after Tuareg have beheaded his father). He has managed to integrate into Parisian life and worked as Diver (who washes dishes in a restaurant) in a restaurant. The story begins with a scene that takes place in the prefecture of police. Samba wanted to regularize his residence permit. He explained that he had made a first request for residence when he arrived in France, but at the time she had been given only a provisional authorisation. He said it works and pays taxes in France since his arrival. Unfortunately nothing happens not as he hoped. Unfortunately the rejection of its request accompanied by a 'OQTF' (Obligation to leave french territory within 30 days) was decided a month earlier by the Administration. That is why Samba landed on the field and ended up handcuffed to the detention centre of Vincennes in Paris. There he met two volunteers who work at the Cimade (a small association which supports migrants) and that from there it will help. Actually Samba doesn't tell his story in the first person, it is one of the volunteers who tells the story. The name of the Narrator is not revealed. It could have been called Delphine, as the author of the novel had also worked as a volunteer at the Cimade. In fact this novel based on the author's own experience. The theme of the novel is very current. Undocumented migrants are often mentioned in the press but are rarely referred to the difficulties they encounter in the margins of legality. They are unwanted and accused of all evils. It seems normal that they are being chased by the police, exploited by unscrupulous employers, imprisoned and sent 'home '. There are chapters that recount the lives of Samba, before, during and after his time in France. The difficulties encountered by Samba in Spain, the Morocco and Algeria show that before arriving in France, undocumented migrants are already victims of endless violence. This helps to better understand his suffering and complexity and its problems. The two volunteers help Samba out of the detention centre, but they can't provide a residence card. Young Samba must find the money to pay the rent of the House he shares with his uncle, but even jobs, the harder and the more poorly paid, are prohibited because it doesn't have a residence card. Samba has no other choice than to do illegal things to survive. First his uncle gives his residence card, but unfortunately to survive should steal other identities. Other major characters in this novel are: -Joseph, a Beninese, with which Samba has attempted to flee to Europe. Joseph was killed by militiamen during his ninth attempt. One year it is friendship that helps the two young people to face the difficulties and to stay alive. -There are also graceful, the Congolese party of his country after militiamen have massacred the inhabitants of his village, killed his mother and took his younger brother -Samba also made the acquaintance of Jonas seeking its promise, called graceful. Samba can be found and falls in love with it. At the end of the novel there is a say ♥♥♥♥ between Jonas and Samba, which ends tragically. Jonas drowns. After the accidental death of Jonas, Samba will find Jonas identification papers. -It will also meet Wilson, an another undocumented Colombian migrants, who works as a window washer. He also came to France to fortune. - And finally there is Georgette one old lady who to survive will find in the bins of what to eat or even sell to others in order to improve his.
