« Ne m’appelez plus VTC (voiture de transport avec chauffeur) ». Tel pourrait être le futur slogan d’Uber. La société américaine, qui est devenue le leader mondial de ce service, est en effet en train de sauter à l’étape suivante en se passant tout bonnement de conducteur. Uber a ainsi lancé, mercredi 14 septembre, à Pittsburgh (Pennsylvanie), une flotte de voitures autonomes en conditions réelles.
Pendant un temps, on a pensé que la principale innovation d’Uber consistait à révolutionner les rapports employeur/employés en donnant une nouvelle dimension au travail indépendant en numérisant le transport avec chauffeur. Mais l’expérience qui vient de démarrer tend à démontrer qu’il ne s’agissait que d’une phase transitoire et que l’objectif ultime est désormais de se passer de chauffeurs, source de coûts et d’accidents.
